Darknet creator E McNeill has confirmed that he will be bringing his upcoming virtual reality (VR) title to PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts next week. The title, while is aiming to be a launch title for the Oculus Rift VR headset, will be available to play throughout the whole event, which runs from 11th – 13th April 2014. It will be based at the Indie Minibooth on the show floor.
Darknet is a futuristic hacking title that is inspired by the likes of The Lawnmower Man and Ghost in the Shell. Players are cast as a ‘Hollywood hacker’ that breaks into the internet to retrieve information by beating procedurally developed puzzles. It started life as Ciess, developed at last year’s VR Jam, and has now moved into full development.
It’s just one of a number of indie titles that will be heading to PAX East at both the Indie Megabooth and Minibooth.
VRFocus will be bringing a full Q&A with E McNeill on Darknet shortly.
