Richard Stitselaar, Creative Director at Vertigo Games, has claimed that he thinks virtual reality (VR) will ‘hit off’ with the release of the Project Morpheus VR headset on PlayStation 4. Speaking to VRFocus at the 2014 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Stitselaar stated that Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) device could mean big publishers get on board with the technology, as well as the HD Oculus Rift headset. Vertigo Games is currently working on the Oculus Rift compatible World Of Diving.

Worldofdiving_1“I think with the release of the Sony headset a lot big developers will work on VR games,” Stitselaar said. “But at the moment it’s just indie games working with the Oculus Rift prototype and developing their games for it. I think it will hit off once the PlayStation 4 version gets released but also the Oculus itself, the HD prototype that they have. It’s a major step in the development VR and I think it will just really work out also for indies and for big publishers in the future.”

Stitselaar didn’t confirm if Vertigo Games’ title would be itself be heading to Project Morpheus and PlayStation 4. That said, the company did announce that it would be bringing World Of Diving to Microsoft’s Xbox One last February, which suggested that a VR project could be in the works for the console. VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest on World Of Diving and be bringing you the full interview with Stitselaar shortly.
