Developer Iris VR’s upcoming virtual reality (VR) exclusive title TECHNOLUST has officially been Greenlit on Steam. The Cyberbunk experience will now be sold on Valve’s digital storefront come release. The campaign was successful in just 2 days, with the title originally being posted on 15th April 2014. The title is built from the ground up for VR and is one of the first videogames to require the use of an Oculus Rift headset.
TECHNOLUST is first-person experience inspired by the likes of Blade Runner and Robocop. Players are cast as a citizen of a futuristic city in which corporations have assumed control of key technologies such as cheap 3D printing and fully immersive VR. Its story will see players join a resistance against these corporations, while on the side they can interact with the environment, watching movies at home and playing videogames at arcades.
A Kickstarter campaign for the project is still running, hoping to raise $30,000 CAD for the title by 11th May 2014. The project has secured over half of its funding at the time of writing. A demo for the title is also available for anyone interested, with the full experience hoping to launch this September. VRFocus will continue to follow TECHNOLUST‘s progress and report back with any more news.
