Bite-Sized VR Action Experience Malfunction Available for Free

Indie developer Kubold has released an intriguing virtual reality (VR) experience onto the official Oculus VR Share Beta. The developer has created a short first-person, story-driven videogame entitled Malfunction, which is compatible with the Oculus Rift VR headset. The title is free to download over on the Oculus VR website for PC, Mac and Linux and works with either keyboard or Xbox 360 controller input.

Malfunction tells a short story in which players step into a seemingly normal apartment in Warsaw, Poland that they’re free to explore and interact with. Players will soon discover that everything in the setting isn’t quite what it seems. The experience lasts around 3 minutes overall, but portrays an intriguing story within that time. The dialogue is in Polish, though the developer suggests that players should get the context all the same.

The developer revealed that Malfunction was created as a testbed for the Oculus Rift before implementing it into his current videogame, the development of which is being documented on the official website. It was created in Unity, with the developer’s wife providing voice work. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR and bring you the latest.
