Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games Corporation has updated the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset support for Hangar Module of its upcoming space combat title. A new patch adds a host of improvements for the device, including true stereo rendering, orientation prediction and keyboard commands that let you toggle the headset on and off as well as recenter the view.

The Hangar Module serves as player’s first taste of the Star Citizen experience. Those who backed the title’s Kickstarter campaign can download the area, which lets players walk around the area and visit their personal living space. To that end, the developer also revealed that those who backed the title before it reached $42 million USD in funding will now see Star Citizen UEE Observist towels in their spaces.

It was also revealed that development subscribers will receive an in-game interactive calendar. Subscribers can gift these calenders to other players for $5 via the subscriber store. A few other updates were also issued, including warping providing the correct perspective.

The full Star Citizen experience on PC will allow players to jump right into the cockpit of a space craft when it launches. Currently it’s not known when that launch will be. VRFocus will continue to follow the title and report back with all the latest developments.
