It’s been clear for a while now that indie developer White Paper Games was aiming to bring its virtual reality (VR) compatible videogame Ether One to PlayStation 4 in the future. The team has in the past all but announced the title through hints, blogs posts and more. This week at Gamescom 2014 in Cologne, Germany, the port was finally made as official as can be, as the title debuted on PlayStation 4 during Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) press conference.

Ether One featured in a montage trailer of upcoming indie titles on their way to PlayStation platforms. The same trailer confirmed that VR compatible skiing title Snow would also be appearing on PlayStation 4. The developer confirmed the news following the brief amount of footage that was shown for the title, though support for the Project Morpheus VR head-mounted display (HMD) is yet to be confirmed.

Ether One is a first-person adventure title set in the mind of a mentally ill patient, which players attempt to heal. White Paper Games recently revealed that it would be transitioning the title to Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4. The title released on PC earlier in the year, with VRFocus awarding it its first 5/5 score. VRFocus will continue to follow Ether One going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
