Earlier today indie developer Gaijin Entertainment confirmed that it would be integrating Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) with War Thunder on PlayStation 4. The title is being shown off with support at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. A new trailer for the World War II-era experience also arrived with the announcement, and can now be seen below.
Clocking in at minutes, the trailer consists entirely of gameplay footage from War Thunder, including the aircraft battles that seasoned players are already familiar with as well as a glimpse of the tanks included in the recent Ground Forces expansion. The title is free-to-play on both PlayStation 4 and PC. Support for the Oculus Rift VR HMD is already included in the latter, which was recently updated to integrate the second development kit (DK2) version of the device.
A date for War Thunder‘s Project Morpheus integration has not yet been given, although it will likely be much closer to the consumer release of the device, which is yet to be detailed. VRFocus will continue to follow War Thunder going forward, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s development.
